Are there any side effects?

There have been no serious side effects reported. Soon after the procedure, there may be some redness, bruising, swelling, stinging and numbness. These clear in few days; at worst in two to four weeks.

Don’t expect permanent effects related either to skin or fat metabolism. Studies have shown no changes in blood lipid levels or liver function. Your skin colour and texture remain same. There will be no blisters and no nerve damage. Repeated procedures are also safe. Criolipolysis presents a compelling alternative to liposuction and results in significant fat reduction

Can I return to normal activities after the procedure?

Yes, you can. The cryolipolysis procedure is completely non-surgical, so typically you will be able to resume your daily activities straight after the treatment, that includes driving and going to the gym etc.

Do you recommend any aftercare advice?

Yes, don´t consume large meals immediately before your procedure, or directly afterwards. We recommend avoiding alcohol and caffeine on the day of your treatment. Aftercare advice includes exercise; drinking sufficient amounts of water; resuming daily activities and avoiding hot baths, showers or saunas for 24 hours.

  • The most important part of the aftercare procedure is increasing your water intake. It is imperative for the two weeks that follow your treatment, you drink the recommended daily allowance of at least 2 litres of water every day, this is to aid the ‘Flushing Out’ process.
  • Maintain a healthy diet.
  • It is advisable to at least undertake some form of light exercise 2-3 times a week.
  • We recommended you avoiding caffeine and alcohol for 24 hours following your treatment.
  • It is also advisable that you avoid warm hot temperature environments such as sunbeds, steam rooms, saunas or hot tubs for 24 hours after treatment.
  • Are the results permanent or will the fat come back?

Once destroyed fat cells leave the body they will not come back in that area assuming you maintain a healthy lifestyle and do not have excessive fat intake

When you treat the area what happens to the rest of the fat, will it just move around my body?

Once the fat cells are frozen and leave your system those cells are removed from your body forever. Fat will not come back to the same area that was treated unless you put on more weight and fat after the cryolipolysis. There is no risk of fat from other areas moving over to the treated area so your fat will not shift around your body to fill the void left.

    Can anyone have Cryolipolysis?

Not everyone is suitable for Fat Freezing. We find the best candidates are those who want to reduce localised fat areas (on the abdomen, flanks, lower back, hips, thighs, upper arms etc.) but who are not generally over weight. These tend to be areas that they find stubborn to diet and exercise that no matter how much exercise or dieting is done just will not reduce. Although most people are treatable, it is not an overall weight loss solution. We suggest that the ideal candidate is within or near their ideal body weight range (BMI), people in this group will see the best results. Cryolipolysis is not a treatment for obesity or for weight loss, It´s especially indicated for local fat reduction. If you are looking to lose weight and dramatically change your body shape then we could work with you to help you reach your goals. This could include combining our weight loss programme along with our range of body treatments as you get closer to your desired weight.

Almost anybody can use Cryolipolysis, except people with:

    - pregnant or breastfeeding.

    - Raynaud´s disease or peripheral vascular disease, circulation disorders

    - cold induced conditions such as cryoglobulinemia, cold urticaria, and paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria

    - undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy for cancer

    - individual who suffer from inguinal hernia or laparocele or underwent surgery for this reason within the last year (this applies to treatments in the abdominal area only).

    - diabetes

    - taking steroids or Dercutane (Isotretinoin for acne)

    - skin infections or chronic skin conditions

    - Those with vasovagal disorders need to discuss with a doctor before the procedure.

As standard we decline treatment to those under 18 years old. At 18 you are able to provide informed consent. Patients who are younger should have parental consent, but still may not be a candidate as their body may not have fully developed.

There is no maximum age, as long as you are fit and well.

Do I need to follow a particular kind of diet or exercise programme?

No particular diet plan is required. You should follow the simple aftercare advice to increase your water intake, avoid caffeine and other toxins to support your bodies natural processes. The results of the cryolipolysis treatments are comparable to invasive treatment methods such as liposuction. The fat cells are eliminated and the results are retained as long (through a healthy diet and exercise) the normal calorie balance is retained. The fat cells will stay away permanently as long as the client maintains his or her weight. By paying attention to your diet and exercising regularly the long-term results will be stable.

It´s important not to gain weight during the intervals between or after sessions, and to follow a balanced diet.

The results are permanent, but if you don’t follow a balanced diet, the fat cells might increase in size in other areas of the body that are considered fat depots.

What is the main difference compared to other procedures?

Cryolypolysis is clinically proven to remove up to 40% of fat cells after one treatment and we are seeing great results.

The Fat Freezin treatment results in a notable and natural reduction of fat tissue, avoiding the traumatic experience of invasive methods (liposuction), and the risk of damage to surrounding tissue. Cryolipolysis has no downtime, no need for anaesthesia, pain free, no incisions and no difficult aftercare (exercise, compression garments).

Liposuction is dangerous and there have been hundreds of thousands of people who become critically ill or die after liposuction. This is not the case with Cryolipolysis!

Cryolypolysis physically destroys the fat cell, and no course of cryolipo is required as in these other laser based treatments, although some people do benefit from further treatments for stubborn fat deposits. No exercise is required for Cryolypolysis to achieve results and the results are permanent but if you want a better and quicker result the lots of water and light exercise is useful to see the maximum result.

The results are not as predictable as traditional invasive procedures like liposuction, however Cryolypolysis is clinically proven as an effective alternative for those wanting to avoid the higher cost, pain, risks, and recovery time associated with surgical procedures.

Which other lipolysis treatments can be combined with cryolipolysis?

The success of the treatment is enhanced when combined with other treatments. Moreover, following a balanced diet is essential for the success of the treatment.

Cryolipolysis may be very well combined with:

    Injectable lipolysis (mesotherapy)

    Carboxitherapy

    LaserLipolysis

    What areas can you treat?

Cryolipolysis works to reduce fat in specific areas of the body. It’s most commonly used on the stomach and back. Fat Freezing is incredibly effective on areas most commonly associated with stubborn fat.

  • Upper arms
  • Back
  • Upper and lower Abdomen
  • Hips
  • Inner and outer Thighs
  • Buttocks / Knees
  • Love Handles
  • The applicator cannot be used for the chin, ankles or wrists as usually these areas are too small to treat. Cryolipolysis can be used to reduce “man boobs” but cannot be used to treat female breast tissue or gynecomastia. It can’t be used to reduce cellulite

How large is a treatment area?

We have various sized application hand pieces. This allows us to treat larger areas like the upper, lower abdomen, thighs and flanks as well as smaller areas such as the upper arms, bra fat and inner thighs. Our technician will select the one that will give you the best value for money and suits your treatment area the best.

Can I have more than one area in one appointment?

Yes, you can book for multiple areas on the same day. Each area is treated for 60 minutes. We recommend to treat only one area rather than two at once at the time to minimize discomfort and make the experience as pleasant as possible.

Is Fat Freezing effective for cellulite?

Fat Freezing is not an ideal treatment for cellulite, but we have man patients who, as a side effect of fat cells being reduced feel their cellulite has lessened.

Also speak to us about Carboxytherapy, Mesotherapy , Laserlipolysis, Colon-Hydrotherapy, and Ozone Therapy, which are great for fighting the problem.

What are the risks and possible complications with this treatment?

There aren’t many side effects associated with cryolipolysis.

Because it is non-invasive, there are no open wounds and therefore there is no risk of infection.

However, some patients may experience redness, numbness, soreness, bruising, tingling, swelling or some discomfort in the treated area – this is simply due to how the tissue is drawn up between the two cooling plates during the procedure. Any side effects such as those mentioned are temporary and will disappear within a few hours or days.
